This in from Daisy Shaver: Lucy, I just had to write you about our weekend. About 8 of us went to White River Junction to learn the techniques for cutting timber frames. We made a decorative gate as practice. Matt made the design with a few angles in it so we had to do a little complicated measuring and cutting. Lucy, I was worried. I was trying to picture myself cutting the ends off these thick, 8 inch timbers. (8 thick, real inches, not AOL inches!!!) I thought it would be grueling, hard work. It wasn't. It was work but I was totally able to handle it, Lucy. And, you know what, everybody else was able to do must of the work, too. So I got all excited Lucy. I really felt like we faeries were going to get the house built this summer. I really felt like we could make the timber frame structure for the frame and later put in the straw bales to plaster for the walls. I really felt like we could do it!! It relieved my worry. Now the trick is to push the state to get our Act 250 permit (we might need a hearing again) and make the schedule to build. We will need lots of faeries to help feed us carpenters, run errands, make merry for us when we rest, and to help us build, too. None of it will be a lot of work. Many hands make light work, you know. Here's the pix from the weekend: Jim Jackson Dan Berns Lucy,
