Radical Faeries
Annual Blue Heron Gathering
A rural gathering of gentle gay men
August 25 – September 1, 2008
(August 23-24 Work session to set up facilities)
Radical faeries are a longstanding and growing movement of queer men celebrating diversity. We are friends and neighbors who encompass a broad range of ages, interests, body types, ethnic backgrounds, occupations, talents and fashion senses Blue Heron is a working farm in the St Lawrence Valley, the home of our hosts Gary and Bryan. It’s a secluded space of sacred woods, fields and streams, with many possibilities for pitching your tent. Facilities are faerie-primitive (carpenter-gothic outhouse with cathedral ceiling….) But the kitchen is near-Julia Child, with a commercial range and propane-powered fridge.
Something for everyone at Blue Heron:
Vegetarian meals
Campfires
Daily Circle
Plant exchange
Music circles
Nature hikes
Drumming circles
Massage circles
Sweat lodge
"No-talent" show
Moon rituals
Ice cream social on Tuesaday
To bring:
Tent and camping gear, sleeping bag, flashlight, bug repellant, clothing for cool nights, musical instrument, plants to exchange, and a "divine" wardrobe. Clothing is always optional. A donation of $15 per day is asked, more if you can, less if you can’t. Please to not bring:
pets, drugs or alcohol. Smoking is OK in designated areas.
The faerie magic begins
and unexpected things happen
when we gather together
to explore gay spirit,
sexuality, ritual and
fellowship.
